Diyar Dance Theatre is a recently established group that is comprised of 40 talented, enthusiastic and committed dancers, both male and female of different age groups and backgrounds. The group itself is entirely volunteer based, as the dancers are motivated by the vision of Diyar Dance Theatre; to create a forum for young adults to celebrate the Palestinian culture and history through traditional dances, while promoting creativity,

imagination and freedom of expression as crucial ingredients of cultural and social development.  Such vision is inspired by Diyar Consortium’s work, which is to cultivate and empower young leaders through its leadership program.

Diyar Dance Theatre is the only dance troupe in Bethlehem representing Bethlehem’s rich history, values and heritage in a theatrical dance form and combining Dabka, modern theatre and contemporary dance.

Diyar Dance Theatre believes in building cultural bridges both locally and internationally, through the exchange of experience and ideas and considers dance to be a powerful medium in unlocking the hearts and minds of people alike

Portraits of Fear:  Synopsis

Diyar Dance Theatre welcomes you to its first production “Portraits of Fear”, a 55 minute performance that travels through the hearts and minds of Palestinian artists, as they are led to break out from their reality to search for their identity and a life worth living.

The chosen dances illustrate the fear of change, the fear of being who you want to be and the fear of being alone; and even though each individual artist finds themself continually falling against the anger, domination, oppression and prejudice of humanity, together they learn to find a common ground to help each other rise and celebrate their newly found freedom.
